There has to be somewhere between 100 to 150 posts that need to be written about this past week-end so I better get started with the first one.
The first one will be about the opening event in the Triple Crown event – Field Goal Contest. We were greeted on the PCHS practice field by Page County High School football Coach Frank Comer. Coach Comer had agreed to host the event even he had just finshed with a home game versus Stonewall Jackson a few hours before. We all had to take notice to the shine of the freshly painted “Old Goal Post” before getting the event underway.
We had a total of 18 contestants taking part in the event and I was rather impressed that 10 of the 18 connected from 20 yards or more. 20 yards is the distance of an extra point attempt in the NFL and it was neat to see so many folks experience the thrill of victory.
Coach Comer was a great host and for that we thank him!
The longest made FG came off the foot of Chris Carter. Carter connected from 42 yards out after Ryan Carrol matched his 40 yard effort.
Page News & Courier Sports Editor Bill Meade captured the Senior division with a 25 yard effort.
Shorty McShorteson took the honors in the Ladies division with a 21-yard effort.
Kyle Lucas captured the Junior division with a 21-yarder as well.
The time on the football field was enjoyed by all!
