Thank You to all that sent their thoughts and prayers to our family the past 72 hours…

While we were waiting to find out whether or not we were going to get to host our home opener last Friday the phone rang with news from Knoxville, Tennessee that my Mother has passed away. Mom had been ill for a while and we knew the time was near, just not that close.

Earlier today, on what would of been her 74TH Birthday, we held the Funeral services in the Cumberland Gap portion of Tennessee. The amount of folks that checked in and passed on their well wishes truely touched me and my family and for this I am incredibly grateful. With this is mind I wanted to share a few pics of the family with those who took the time to check on us over the past few days.

We did a number of speeches and held meetings throughout the off season and we tossed out a number of ideas early on. One of those ideas was to walk from one park to another on one of the nights that Staunton played Waynesboro. The hope was to try and draw attention to our ball club and how close it was between the two parks. All of the ideas we had talked about have been put in to place except two, one being the walk and the second being John creating a Waynesboro Generals Hall of Fame.

This Friday (June 12TH) I will be able to scratch my part of the left-to-do-list off when I make the trek down US-250 from John Moxie Stadium over to Fishburne Military School Park. The walk for me will now be the Bea Carter Memorial Walk.

Thanks again for all the Kind words!

  1. May I add my blessings and condolences as well. Being acquainted with one of her finer projects ( you and your wonderfully caring family) all I can say is that your mom must have been quite a lady! May your fond memories and strong family ties sustain you at this time. Take good care, my friend.

  2. Teresa and Bob,

Thank you so much for the kind words. It’s a comfort to us to know that so many people are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers at this time. If we weren’t so sure about the fact that she is in a better place, and healthy, again, for the first time in years, it would be so much harder to cope with. At this point, we’re rejoicing. The prayers should all be directed toward her loving husband of 56 years (as of March 23) – a period of time I cannot even wrap my mind around, honestly.

We’re standing together as a family now more than ever – and it’s so amazing the number of friends who have stepped forward to help us grieve (and, duly, celebrate) her passing.

    Thank you, again,
    The Carter Family

  3. Dear Jerry and rest of the amazing Carter Family,

I just found out about your Mother’s passing last night at the VBL meeting. I’m truly sorry for your families loss. Words are always hard at a time like this. I believe positive thoughts and memories of our dear one is the best thing to focus on during our grief. May that and the support of your friends make the days and weeks to come easier for you to deal with.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers will be with the Carter Family!

May God continue to bless and comfort you,
    Bob and Teresa Wease
